Amgen India Will Accelerate Innovation and Digital Capabilities Across Amgen’s Global Organization
Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) today announced plans to open a new technology and innovation site in Hyderabad, India. The site, known as Amgen India, will accelerate digital capabilities across the global organization to further advance Amgen’s pipeline of medicines.
Amgen India will be located in HITEC City, a suburb of Hyderabad, occupying six floors in Hitech City, Hyderabad. The city of Hyderabad, located in the state of Telangana, was selected for its world-class talent across medicine, life sciences and data sciences and the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence (AI). The site can accommodate up to 3,000 people and will be operational in Q4 2024.
“At a time when a quickly aging global population needs more innovation, the convergence of biotechnology and technology is enabling Amgen to work with greater speed, confidence, and efficiency — _an incredibly exciting milestone for which we have been preparing for over a decade,” said David M Reese, M.D., executive vice president and chief technology officer at Amgen. “Amgen has been a leader in biotechnology for over 40 years and establishing this new site in India, a country known for its world-class technology and life sciences talent, marks a significant step forward in our journey to deliver on our mission to serve patients.”
Amgen India will initially build and accelerate new technology solutions and digital capabilities at scale that will enhance efficiencies across the enterprise. The site will offer roles that strengthen key areas of Amgen’s business, including AI, data science, life science and other additional global capabilities over time.
To lead Amgen’s expanded presence in India, Som Chattopadhyay has been appointed national executive for India.

Chief Minister Sri Anumula Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister Sri Duddilla Sridhar Babu met Dr. David Reese and Mr. Som Chattopadhyay at Amgen’s R&D site in San Francisco today.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister for Industries Sri Duddilla Sridhar Babu said, “I’m thrilled to note that Amgen has chosen Hyderabad to establish Amgen India. This development is a powerful endorsement of the world-class life sciences ecosystem we’re cultivating in Telangana. The government is committed to partnering with Amgen to ensure their success here. This marks the beginning of a promising, long-term collaboration, and we’re excited about the healthier future we’re building together!“
Amgen has nearly 27,000 employees and has a presence in approximately 100 countries and regions worldwide, including India.

అమెరికాలోనే అతి పెద్ద బయో టెక్నాలజీ కంపెనీ ఆమ్జెన్ (AMGEN) తెలంగాణలో కార్యకలాపాలను విస్తరించనుంది. హైదరాబాద్ లో కొత్తగా రీసెర్చ్ అండ్ డెవలప్ మెంట్ విభాగం ప్రారంభించనున్నట్లు కంపెనీ ప్రకటించింది. హైటెక్ సిటీలో ఆరు అంతస్తుల భవనంలో ఈ సెంటర్ ఉంటుంది. దాదాపు 3 వేల మందికి ఇక్కడ ఉద్యోగాలు లభిస్తాయి. ఈ ఏడాది చివరి త్రైమాసికం నుంచే కంపెనీ తమ కార్యకలాపాలు ప్రారంభించనుంది. సీఎం రేవంత్ రెడ్డి, పరిశ్రమల శాఖ మంత్రి శ్రీధర్ బాబు శాన్ ఫ్రాన్సిస్కోలోని ఆమ్జెన్ ఆర్ అండ్ డీ కేంద్రంలో కంపెనీ ఎండీ డాక్టర్ డేవిడ్ రీస్, నేషనల్ ఎక్స్క్యూటివ్ మిస్టర్ సోమ్ చటోపాధ్యాయతో సమావేశమయ్యారు.
అనంతరం ముఖ్యమంత్రి ఏ.రేవంత్ రెడ్డి మాట్లాడుతూ, ప్రపంచంలో పేరొందిన బయోటెక్‌ సంస్థ హైదరాబాద్‌ను తమ కంపెనీ అభివృద్ధి కేంద్రంగా ఎంచుకోవటం గర్వించదగ్గ విషయమని అన్నారు. బయో టెక్నాలజీ రంగంలో హైదరాబాద్ ప్రాధాన్యం మరింత ఇనుమడిస్తుందని అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు. ప్రపంచ స్థాయి సాంకేతికతతో రోగులకు సేవ చేయాలని కంపెనీ ఎంచుకున్న లక్ష్యం ఎంతో స్పూర్తిదాయకంగా ఉందన్నారు.
40 సంవత్సరాలుగా తమ కంపెనీ బయో టెక్నాలజీ రంగంలో అగ్రగామి సంస్థగా గుర్తింపు సాధించిందని కంపెనీ ఎండీ డాక్టర్ రీస్ అన్నారు. డేటా సైన్స్, అర్టిఫిషియల్ ఇంటిలిజెన్స్ కలయికతో కొత్త ఆవిష్కరణలతో మరింత సేవలను అందించేందుకు ఈ సెంటర్ ఏర్పాటు అద్భుతమైన మైలురాయిగా నిలుస్తుందని అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు. భారత్ లో తమ కంపెనీ విస్తరణకు సోమ్ చటోపాధ్యాయను నేషనల్ ఎక్జ్క్యూటివ్ గా నియమించినట్లు చెప్పారు.
పరిశ్రమల శాఖ మంత్రి దుద్దిళ్ల శ్రీధర్‌బాబు మాట్లాడుతూ, ఆమ్జెన్ ఇండియా హైదరాబాద్ ను కేంద్రంగా ఎంచుకోవటం ఆనందంగా ఉందన్నారు. ఈ నిర్ణయం తెలంగాణలో అందుబాటులో ఉన్న ప్రపంచ స్థాయి లైఫ్ సైన్సెస్ పర్యావరణ వ్యవస్థను చాటిచెపుతుందన్నారు. కంపెనీ విస్తరణకు తగినంత మద్దతు ఇచ్చేందుకు రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం సిద్ధంగా ఉందన్నారు. ఆమ్ జెన్ కంపెనీ ప్రపంచంలో వంద దేశాల్లో విస్తరించి ఉంది. దాదాపు 27 వేల మంది ఉద్యోగులున్నారు.
