Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy launched Mahalakshmi and Cheyutha Schemes. Later CM addressed the gathering.

The Chief Minister said that December 9 is a very special festive occasion for the Telangana state. On December 9, 2008, under the leadership of the then UPA Chairperson Smt Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Sri P Chidambaram, the process to establish separate Telangana state had begun. Thus, making the 60-year old aspiration and dream of Telangana people, a reality by launching the Constitutional protection and process on that day.

December 9 also happens to be Smt Sonia Gandhi-ji’s birthday. On this historic day, Smt Sonia Gandhi, having realised the decades old desire and ambition of Telangana people, and as a mother to Telangana people, made every person in Telangana feel proud to declare that ours is a Telangana State.

The CM said that with the inspiration given by Smt Sonia Gandhi, under her guidance, in the just concluded Legislative Assembly elections, the Congress has given six guarantees to the people in its poll manifesto. Smt Sonia Gandhi herself gave the concept for the six guarantees.

Smt Sonia Gandhi in 2004, from Karimnagar soil declared that she knew what Telangana people wanted and their ultimate desire and, promissed to fulfil the desire. True to her words, she was instrumental in creating a separate Telangana State on June 2, 2014.

With the same spirit, Smt Sonia Gandhi gave six guarantees to the people in Telangana State on Sept 17, 2023 at Rajiv Gandhi grounds. On this day, on December 9, after the first session of the newly formed Legislative Assembly meet, after administering oath to the members, the Congress government had dedicated 2 of the six guarantees to people in Telangana.

As part of the two guarantees, the Congress government has decided to extend Rs 10 lakh under Rajiv Arogyasri scheme. Rajiv Arogyasri scheme is to extend the medical and health care to all the poor to protect their health. Under the Scheme, Rs 10 lakh worth medical and health services are extended to the each and every beneficiary. CM Sri Revanth Reddy said that the scheme is formally launched on Saturday.

The second guarantee is Mahalaxmi Scheme, which is also launched today. Under the Scheme all women in Telangana state can travel from anywhere to anywhere free of cost travelling on the RTC Bus services. On this historic day, the birthday of Iron lady Smt Sonia Gandhi, the entire state cabinet, Congress party senior leader Manikrao Thakore, MLAs, free travel on the RTC buses for women is launched.

All the ministers, MLAs, women legislators, women officers along with the common women travelled on the RTC buses from Legislative Assembly premises to Dr BR Ambedkar Statue on the Tank Bund. After garlanding Dr Ambedkar statue, due respects were paid to Dr Ambedkar.

The Chief Minister thanked his Cabinet Colleagues, legislators, Chief secretary, DGP, and other higher officials, media persons for participating in the programme. CM Sri Revanth Reddy also thanked Pro-term Speak Janaab Akbaruddin Owaisi who administered oath to the newly elected legislators.

The Chief Minister further explained that the six guarantees given by the Congress during the polls were formulated keeping in mind the poor and marginalised sections of the society. Like the way Smt Sonia Gandhi kept her promise regarding creating a separate Telangana State, the Congress government too will fulfil the six guarantees within 100 days of its rule, Sri Revanth Reddy declared.

• On this occasion, Honourable Chief Minister Sri. A. Revanth Reddy presented a cheque for Rs 2 crore to world boxing champion Nikhat Zarina, who is undergoing training in Patiala.
